The incident happened during his visit to the communist nation.

The clip was shared by RNC Research, which featured Newsom (D-Calif.) dribbling a basketball, losing the handle and plowing into one of the children playfully attempting to defend him.

Additionally, a spokesperson for Newsom’s office said that the incident happened while he was at Yuying School, a public school in Beijing, where he was visiting to “see farm-to-school and other agricultural science programs in China.”

The incident happened during Newsom’s week-long trip to China, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing during the trip.

During a press conference after the meeting, the governor of The Golden State said that he and Xi discussed various methods to “accelerate our progress on climate in meaningful and substantive ways,” according to a report from CBS News.

Newsom’s representatives also maintained that the two leaders were “discussing ways to combat fentanyl use across the globe.”
