The law firm representing controversial Democrat Mayor Tiffany Henyard of Dolton, Illinois, has asked to withdraw from cases involving her, as she is currently facing multiple legal battles in her role as mayor.

Del Galdo Law Group issued a letter to Henyard and the village trustees, claiming that Henyard had not paid the law firm for its work and that the village may be uninsurable with millions of dollars in judgments against it.
“The Board recently voted to stop paying our legal bills,’ reads the letter provided to DailyMail.com. ‘We are, of course, not required to work for free and decline to do so.”
Currently, Henyard has been involved in 22 lawsuits so far.
The law firm announced that it would no longer be taking care of any appearances or defending newly filed cases and would withdraw from an additional 19 cases, effective on May 8th.
Five of the cases involve “serious injury or death,” including two “jail suicide by hanging cases” and two “officer involved shooting wrongful death causes of action.”
“No one wants to represent the Village,” the firm continued.
“The Village already has a $33.5 million judgment against it that the previous administration and the Board ignored to settle within policy limits, where the Village’s best hope is that the jury verdict will be reversed on appeal.”
“If that is unsuccessful, the Village will owe more than $20M in excess insurance policy limits on that case alone.”
Meanwhile, former employees, town residents, and others involved have filed numerous complaints against the mayor since she was first elected. She has been accused of wrongfully terminating employees, misusing taxpayer funds, and attempting to cover up a sexual assault by an employee on a trip to Las Vegas.
Henyard allegedly tried to cover up the sexual assault by firing the victim and a police officer in attempt to hide the case after village trustee Andrew Holmes allegedly sexually assaulted an employee in Sin City.
The highly criticized mayor has also been accused of misusing her charity funds, which come from taxpayers, as the Tiffany Henyard Cares Foundation has allegedly not been truthful and accurate with its financial data.
Previously, a referendum recalling Henyard as mayor passed in June 2022, but Cook County Circuit Court Judge Paul Karkula ruled it invalid.
Henyard was previously elected to the position in 2021, with 82% of the vote in her favor after serving as a Dolton Village trustee for eight years.
Meanwhile, former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has been appointed by the village to investigate the current under fire mayor. However, it is expected that Henyard will veto the appointment of Lightfoot to investigate her.
