George Santos Joins Cameo Video Platform After Being Expelled From Congress

Rep. George Santos (R-NY) leaves the U.S. Capitol after his fellow members of Congress voted to expel him from the House of Representatives on December 01, 2023 in Washington, DC. Charged by the U.S. Department of Justice with 23 felonies in New York including fraud and campaign finance violations, Santos, 35, was expelled from the House of Representatives by a vote of 311-114. George Santos has figured out a new method to earn some extra money after being kicked out of Congress last week: selling Cameo recordings.

On the video platform Cameo, fans have the ability to hire celebrities or any other notable figure on the website to create custom videos for special occasions like birthdays, holidays, or even just as a joke.

Santos’ X (Twitter) profile displays a link to his Cameo profile.

The disgraced former representative calls himself “The Expelled member of Congress from New York City” and a “former congressional ‘icon’” on his Cameo page.

Santos now joins the group of former politicians who applied to work on Cameo in an attempt to make some extra cash, including former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani, and former political consultant Roger Stone.

A video dedicated to New Jersey Democrat Senator Bob Menendez, who is currently under fire, was uploaded by Santos on Monday evening. The video recording was credited to Pennsylvania Democrat Senator John Fetterman, who purchased it.

“Hey Bobby!” Santos begins the video. “Uh, look. I don’t think I need to tell you but these people that want to make you get in trouble and want to kick you out and make you run away, you make ‘em put up or shut up! You stand your ground sir, and don’t get bogged down by all the haters out there. Stay strong! Merry Christmas!” Santos says in the video that was paid for by Fetterman.

The Pennsylvania rookie legislator has been vocal in his demands that Menendez, who is being investigated by the federal government for his involvement in a bribery scheme, resign from Congress if Santos deserves to be kicked out.

Santos moved to the Cameo platform at a time when he is still facing significant legal issues in his post-congressional era, along with major legal fees.

In a 23-count indictment, federal prosecutors have charged him with lying to Congress, swindling contributors, and stealing from his campaign donations in order to pay for personal things like botox, OnlyFans, and Hermès merchandise.

The House voted on Friday to remove the Republican congressman from New York, following a harsh ethics report on his behavior that increased colleagues’ worries about the scandal-plagued Santos.

Santos was then removed by his colleagues, making him only the sixth member in the chamber’s existence and the third since the Civil War to have experienced anything of the sort.
