Nassau County UVO Veterans’ Day Ceremony: Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022, from 10 a.m. to noon at Eisenhower Park
How many times have we said, “I’d like to show my appreciation for those who donned our nation’s uniform, and signed a blank check to fight for our freedoms”? Veteran’s Day is our chance to honor them.
On the Sunday before Veteran’s Day each year (in this case, it would be Sunday, Nov. 6), consider this an invitation from the Nassau County American Legion Auxiliary, to join us to honor our men and women who have served.
We will be attending along with the Nassau County American Legion, American Legion Riders, the Jewish War Veterans, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Vietnam War Veterans Assn., Vietnam Veterans of America (Chapter 82), Gold Star Family members, Blue Star Family members, and of course, the general public is warmly invited and encouraged to join us.

Location: Eisenhower Park – Field 6 – Veteran’s Plaza
The ceremony starts with a Color Guard Procession into Veterans’ Plaza, from the various branches of the military organizations mentioned above.
The American Legion Auxiliary who will be celebrating its 103rd Anniversary on November 10, is one of the nation’s most prominent supporters of veterans, military, and their families. We help to advance the mission of The American Legion.
From helping to draft the GI Bill in 1944 to advocating for veterans on Capitol Hill, the non-partisan American Legion Family is instrumental in advancing legislation that improves the quality of life for our nation’s veterans and service-members.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a member of our volunteer organization, ask any one of us how you may qualify. Did you know? As of August, 2019, eligibility requirements have broadened to join the American Legion Auxiliary as well as the American Legion? Up until that point, the American Legion only accepted as members those who served during specific combat periods, but now that requirement has been lifted, as those who served anytime after World War I are eligible to become a member of the American Legion, which broadens membership to include more than 6,000,000 additional veterans nation-wide. As for the American Legion Auxiliary, as of August, 2019, the Auxiliary which, up until that point, had been an all-female organization, now includes all spouses of American Legion members–female OR male–making the American Legion Auxiliary the largest all-inclusive volunteer organization serving veterans, military, children and youth, and our community
