Actor and comedian Richard Lewis, well known for his role in the movie \u201cRobin Hood: Men in Tights\u201d and the popular HBO sitcom \u201cCurb Your Enthusiasm,\u201d has passed away. He was 76 years-old.<\/p>\n

According to a statement from his publicist to *ABC News<\/em>, Lewis passed away at home on Tuesday night in Los Angeles from a heart attack.<\/p>\n*

\u201cHis wife, Joyce Lapinsky, thanks everyone for all the love, friendship, and support and asks for privacy at this time,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
According to the statement, the comedian disclosed last year that he had been suffering from Parkinson\u2019s disease.<\/p>\n
Lewis declared in 2021 that he would miss Season 11 of \u201cCurb\u201d in order to recuperate from three surgeries. However, he told *Variety<\/em> at the time that he astonished audiences by coming back to the set for one episode of Season 11. Lewis also appeared on the last season of the show, season 12.<\/p>\n*

\u201cWhen I walked in and they applauded, I felt like a million bucks. Larry [David] doesn\u2019t like to hug, and he hugged me and told me how happy he was after we shot our scene,\u201d Lewis said. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve devoted my life to comedy and my sobriety the last almost 27 years. I\u2019m overwhelmed with joy right now. I never learned how to keep joy in my head for more than a minute, but I\u2019m breaking all records for my life today.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
An *HBO<\/em> spokesperson also commented on the news of Lewis\u2019 passing. <\/p>\n*
