In the Trump years, CNN oppressively promoted the conspiracy theory of Donald Trump\u2019s \u201ccollusion\u201d with the Russian government to get elected in 2016. So, they were heartbroken when Robert Mueller\u2019s investigation ended with a negative verdict: \u201cThe investigation did not establish that members of the Trump campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities.\u201d<\/p>\n

CNN media reporter Oliver Darcy climbed to the mountaintop of shamelessness in his so-called \u201cReliable Sources\u201d newsletter on Feb. 8 under the heading \u201cThe Collusion Delusion.\u201d Who\u2019s delusional now? House Republicans investigating the role of the Biden campaign and the \u201cintelligence community\u201d in Twitter\u2019s suspension of The New York Post over a Hunter Biden story.<\/p>\n

This is not a \u201cnews\u201d letter.<\/p>\n

\u201cRepublicans are living in a reality distortion field,\u201d Darcy began. He blustered there was \u201cno real evidence\u201d to support the claim that Twitter bowed to government bureaucrats when they suppressed the Hunter laptop story and branded it as toxic misinformation. Just forget all the reporting that Twitter executives had weekly meetings with the FBI (which had the laptop in its possession) and engaged in a \u201ctabletop exercise\u201d about \u201chack-and-leak\u201d operations with the Department of Homeland Security. That\u2019s some thick smoke, if not fire.<\/p>\n

Darcy continued: \u201cRepublicans were unrelenting in peddling it to the American public. At Wednesday\u2019s hearing they showed no regard for misinforming those who turn to them for accurate information, or the fact that they were smearing a private business and its former executives in the process.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not \u201csmearing\u201d to make the former Twitter chieftains testify. Liberals just don\u2019t like other liberals being on the wrong end of the hardball questions.<\/p>\n

Darcy accused Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the new chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee, of \u201ctossing asinine red meat to the Republican base.\u201d He put the word \u201ccensor\u201d in scare quotes to describe Twitter\u2019s overwrought 17-day suspension of The New York Post\u2019s Twitter account and the suspension of Twitter accounts that dared to tweet out a link to The Post\u2019s expose.<\/p>\n

But probably the most hypocritical passage in this purple prose was about election denial: With this hearing, \u201cRepublicans are not so subtly feeding their election-denying base reason to believe that the 2020 election was effectively rigged against Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earth to Darcy: What did your network obsess about in the Trump years? We could easily counter with \u201cCNN was not so subtly feeding its election-denying base reason to believe that the 2016 election was effectively rigged against Hillary Clinton.\u201d<\/p>\n

Darcy, who thinks that Fox News should be deplatformed, then ranted that Fox News recounted \u201cthe nonsense coming out of the hearing as if it were a serious affair uncovering considerable wrongdoing. The facts \u2014 reality \u2014 simply do not matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s Darcy who is pushing the transparently counterfactual narrative that there is no such thing as Big Tech \u201cintentionally and unjustly censoring conservative views,\u201d when the evidence is ubiquitous. MRC Free Speech America\u2019s\u00a0CensorTrack.org\u00a0database has reached the milestone of 5,000 verified incidents of conservatives being censored, suspended, and canceled.<\/p>\n

This fervently opinionated \u201cReliable Sources\u201d report is the latest proof that CNN CEO Chris Licht has accomplished nothing in his supposed effort to make CNN a place for fair and respectful dialogue and analysis. <\/p>\n

Darcy claims Republicans are \u201casinine\u201d red meat throwers who don\u2019t care about facts in any way. CNN is not working to earn the trust of Republicans and their leaders. They\u2019re still working overtime to discredit Republicans as they throw their own red meat at their own Democratic audience.<\/p>\n
