When a series of photos of the president and first lady are trending on Twitter along with the words \u201celder abuse,\u201d things aren\u2019t exactly going as planned.<\/p>\n

That can be said for so much of the recent happenings in President Joe Biden\u2019s administration, mind you.<\/p>\n

However, the puzzling sequence of photos \u2014 taken just before the president left to give a speech in Cleveland \u2014 called into question the president\u2019s mental fitness yet again.<\/p>\n

The photos were taken by Associated Press photographer Patrick Semansky, according to the AP\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yes, but those pensions aren\u2019t exactly going to be the headline here.<\/p>\n

In the first photo, Biden appears to be talking with his wife<\/a> in a raised voice, judging by his expression.<\/p>\n

In the next, his head is drooped slightly and he\u2019s squinting.<\/p>\n

The third photo, however, is what will get the most attention: Biden\u2019s head hangs low, his face fixed in a childish frown.<\/p>\n

In the final photo, a still-squinting Biden<\/a> walks away.<\/p>\n

GOP rapid response team member Jake Schneider tweeted it out as a \u201cstory in four parts.\u201d<\/p>\n

Photographs, of course, can catch anyone in an awkward moment. The problem is that this is the same man who, just last month, needed this note card<\/a> to get through a White House meeting:<\/p>\n

Next time someone tries to tell you Joe Biden isn\u2019t a geriatric nursing home patient trapped in the White House, show them this.<\/p>\n
He needs a notecard with step by step directions telling him what to do, including \u201cYOU take YOUR seat\u201d.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t just a matter of the diminishing returns of old age, something that has crept up on many a president.<\/p>\n
The chief executive\u2019s behavior has led to a situation where he can uncharitably \u2014 but still reasonably \u2014 be characterized by his opponents, both foreign and domestic, as little more than a puppet too far gone to notice who\u2019s pulling the strings.<\/p>\n
One of those people, it appears, is his wife \u2014 someone who lacks any political experience but is often seen leading her senescent husband around<\/a> like he was a sleepwalker in his pajamas.<\/p>\n

Wednesday\u2019s photos of the first couple aren\u2019t dispositive of any of this, obviously. However, at a time when America desperately needs a fighter, Joe Biden looks like he needs a hug and a nap.<\/p>\n
