The legal counsel of Bryan Kohberger, who is suspected of killing four students at the University of Idaho in November 2022, claimed during a recent court hearing that prosecutors were hiding facts from the defense team.

While leading Kohberger attorney, Anne Taylor, argued that the public should be made aware of the two impending hearings on May 14th and 16th, she also mentioned that Kohberger’s vehicle is not shown in full on a video that Latah County prosecutors claim to have produced, showing his vehicle near the residence where the four students were killed.

The video was mentioned in the probable cause affidavit used to arrest Kohberger, according to Taylor, who also said that the defense had only “received parts of” the footage. The video was also silent.

“This is the video that they say places this car near the residence. We’re received little tiny pieces of that and we think Bryan’s right to a fair trial means the public needs to know that they’ve withheld the audio from a great portion of that and that it starts a long time before the little clip that we received,” said Taylor, while accusing prosecutors of keeping the defense team “in a vacuum to try to control the narrative.”

Taylor also maintained that the public should continue to be informed about Kohberger’s case. In a response, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Ashley Jennings stated that although the trial would be open to the public, certain sessions shouldn’t be held in public due to the sensitive nature of the material being discussed. There have been three public hearings already.

“I would note for the record, we had one (public) hearing regarding motions to compel … We discussed one request, and it had to do with training records. That’s not what we’re contemplating discussing at this hearing on the 14th,” Jennings said.

The hearings will “primarily address the potential relocation of Kohberger’s trial away from Latah County,” CBS affiliate KREM reported.

Kohberger’s attorneys have said in the past that they would be unable to hold a fair trial due to the “inflammatory” media coverage.

John Judge, the supervising judge, made the decision to close the next round of hearings.

Meanwhile, the family of one of the victims, Kaylee Goncalves, expressed their frustration with the length of time it has taken for the case to move forward in court.

“This banter has been going on for 17 months. Then once you get a hearing, you have a hearing about the decision that was made at that hearing before the last hearing, and there needs to be another hearing,” the family said in a statement.

“This case is turning into a hamster wheel of motions, hearings, and delayed decisions.”

It is currently unknown when Kohberger’s trial will take place. In August 2024, he gave up his right to a speedy trial.

Before being let go from her job last week, the esteemed CBS reporter was one of the individuals credited with uncovering the Hunter Biden laptop story that left-leaning news outlets like Politico previously claimed was “Russian disinfo.”

According to insiders familiar with the situation who spoke with reporters on Thursday, the network took her personal files and computer in a “unprecedented” move.

Twenty CBS News employees were laid off as part of a bigger purge of hundreds of workers at parent firm Paramount Global, including Catherine Herridge, who is currently at the center of a First Amendment case that is being keenly followed by journalists across the country.

Although her dismissal had taken a few coworkers by surprise, insiders claim that many employees are frightened by the network’s choice to retain her personal documents and laptop, which may include even more sensitive information.

“It’s so extraordinary,” a source said, highlighting that the files — which are now property of CBS News — could easily contain confidential material.

According to the source, the network packed up everything she owned and had in the office, with the exception of Herridge’s scrap notes, and told her it would determine what, if anything, would be given back to her.

“They [typically] never seize documents [when you’re let go],” a second source who spoke to the press said. “They want to see what damaging documents she has.”

The network’s actions, according to insiders, might affect Herridge’s First Amendment lawsuit since her documents might reveal confidential talks she had with her attorneys or the identity of sources.

Herridge is facing criticism for allegedly defying U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper’s directive to disclose her source of information on a federal investigation regarding a Chinese American scientist running a graduate program in Virginia.

The reporter could face contempt of court in the near future for failing to reveal the source of an investigation that she highlighted in 2017, when she was employed at Fox News.

Herridge had run into obstacles from higher-ups regarding her coverage of Hunter Biden’s forgotten laptop. She had also had a falling out with Ingrid-Ciprian Matthews, the president of CBS News, a stern executive cleared of all charges in 2021 after there was an investigation into her hiring and management practices, specifically citing “discriminatory hiring practices and favoritism.”

According to the second source, there is a possibility that the network believes Herridge had material in her files that could result in a wrongful termination lawsuit.

“She was pursuing stories that were unwelcomed by the Biden White House and many Democratic powerhouses, including the Hur report on Joe Biden’s diminished mental capacity, the Biden corruption scandal and the Hunter Biden laptop,” said Jonathan Turley, a legal scholar and ex-CBS analyst.

Former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney announced that he would vote Democrat before ever supporting former President Donald J. Trump or entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

During an interview on Friday with CBS’ Norah O’Donnell, Romney was asked about who he supports in the GOP.

“I’d be happy to support virtually any one of the Republicans, maybe not Vivek [Ramaswamy], but the others that are running would be acceptable to me, and I’d be happy to vote for them,” he said.

“I’d be happy to vote for a number of the Democrats, too. I mean, it would be an upgrade, in my opinion, from Donald Trump and perhaps also from Joe Biden,” Romney continued.

Ramaswamy was quick to respond to the Utah Republicans’ remarks. He pinned the sound clip from the interview to the top of his X page, the social media platform previously known as Twitter.

The failed presidential candidate’s remarks come as no surprise as he has been vocal about his dislike of Trump for many years. In 2020, he revealed that he did not vote for Trump during his re-election bid. Additionally, Romney voted in favor of Trump’s impeachment.

Bob Barker, the longtime host of “The Price Is Right” has died of natural causes at his Hollywood Hills home. He was 99 years old.

Barker’s publicist Roger Neal confirmed the death of the gameshow host on Saturday, saying that Barker died “peacefully” at his Hollywood Hills home.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce that the World’s Greatest MC who ever lived, Bob Barker, has left us,” Neal said.

Robert William Barker was born in Darrington, Washington on December 12th, 1923. As a member of the Sioux tribe, he spent most of his childhood on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Mission, South Dakota.

“I’ve always bragged about being part Indian, because they are a people to be proud of — and the Sioux were the greatest warriors of them all,” Barker had said in 1962. “They’ve been called the greatest light cavalry in the history of man. And I have never been on a horse without falling off.”

Barker had joined the United States Navy as a reservist in 1943 to train as a fighter pilot, although he never served on active duty. He married his wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon, in 1945. The couple never had any children, and his wife passed away in 1981.

He had hosted his own radio show in Burbank titled “The Bob Barker Show” for six years and was also hosting a radio show in Los Angeles when he replaced original host Jack Baily on “Truth or Consequences.”

Barker hosted “Truth or Consequences” from 1956 to 1975. In 1972, he was asked to host and produce the revival of “the Price is Right” by CBS, which he did until 2007.

Throughout his career, Barker had won 19 Daytime Emmy awards, 14 of which were for Outstanding Game Show Host for his run on “The Price Is Right.” He also won four outstanding Game Show awards for his role as the program’s executive producer.

In 1976 Barker received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and he was later inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 2004, and the National Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2008.

Barker’s close friend, Nanvy Burnet, also the co-executor of his estate who has overseen his care for many years told the New York Post that she’s “so proud of the trailblazing work Barker and I did together to expose the cruelty to animals in the entertainment industry and including working to improve the plight of abused and exploited animals in the United States and internationally. We were great friends over these 40 years, he will be missed.”

When asked about how he would like to be remember, Barker said that he wants to be remembered “as a guy who loved all living things.”

“I think that it would be nice if people remembered me as a guy who loved all living things and did as much as he could to make ours a better world for animals — and also did quite a few television shows,” he had answered.

OAN NEWSROOM
UPDATED 8:54 AM PT – Tuesday, June 21 2022

Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) recently criticized mainstream media for trying to stir up partisan hatred against Republicans. During a Monday interview, the Louisiana lawmaker specifically decried the actions of staffers working for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

Last week, a group of seven CBS employees were arrested for walking the halls of the US Capitol without badges. They were reportedly trying to catch Republican lawmakers off guard, while attempting to interview them through the “dog puppet” character called “Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.”

Kennedy said the American people know this was an attempt to make Republicans look bad. He added, Americans don’t take mainstream media seriously.

“I’ve said it in another context, that’s why the American people — they are not fooled,” stated the Republican. “They trust the media now like they trust gas station sushi. And the media, everybody knows that — not everybody, but many members of the media — have no self-awareness. They think they are fooling the American people.”

Sen. Kennedy also said narratives curated by mainstream media are fueling hysterical outcries against conservatives. These include protests outside the homes of Supreme Court justices violent unrest and cancel culture.

Colbert defended his staff during an episode of the show following their arrest by Capitol Police. He noted authorities are more cautious now while alluding the reasoning to be on part of the January 6 protests. Nonetheless, the seven staffers were charged with unlawful entry after disturbance call.

According to a Capitol Police statement, “This is an active criminal investigation and may result in additional criminal charges after consultation with the U.S. Attorney.”
