Teacher on Leave While Investigated for Antisemitic Posts

A Maryland middle school teacher has been placed on paid leave while her school investigates a string of antisemitic social media posts in her name, although she remains listed as a board member of the local teachers union.

Angela Wolf, a teacher at Takoma Park Middle School, allegedly made social media posts that her principal calls “antisemitic” after Hamas terrorists attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing more than 1,200. The middle school is just outside the nation’s capital and part of Montgomery County Public Schools.

“I was extremely saddened and disappointed by the contents of these posts and strongly condemn the views expressed, as they do not align with our school’s values of inclusivity, respect, and acceptance,” Takoma Park Middle School Principal Erin Martin wrote in a Nov. 13 letter to parents after, she says, she learned of Wolf’s social media posts from “several” individuals in the community.

Wolf is head of Takoma Park Middle School’s English language development department, which serves many immigrant children.

Martin said an investigation was underway; WTOP-FM (103.5), an all-news radio station, reported that Wolf was placed on leave.

The Daily Wire reported that the social media posts under review, which aren’t public on Wolf’s Facebook page, include a depiction of an Israeli tank aiming at babies in a hospital with the words “enemy in sight!”

At the end of October, The Daily Wire reported, Wolf shared a post saying: “It is not a war—it is a slaughter. Israel determined to make Gaza uninhabitable.”

Hamas terrorists entered southern Israel on Oct. 7 from the Gaza Strip, which has been governed by Hamas since 2007.

Last month, a post by Wolf praised bus drivers in the metropolitan Washington area who refused to transport supporters of the Jewish state to the “March for Israel” on the National Mall.

Wolf is listed as a member of the board of directors of the Montgomery County Education Association, the local teachers union, which is an affiliate of the National Education Association.

Neither Wolf nor the Montgomery County Education Association responded to The Daily Signal’s requests for comment.

On today’s edition of the “Problematic Women” podcast, we discuss Wolf’s allegedly antisemitic comments and correct claims that she apparently made on social media.

Also on today’s show, we discuss the Nov. 30 debate between California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, a Republican. Plus, we break down a battle for free speech in Ireland and crown our Problematic Woman of the Week.
