Governor Kathy Hotchul has bet Governor Gavin Newsom that the New York Yankees will beat the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

On Friday, Hotchul (D-N.Y.) said that in her bet with Newsom (D-Calif.), the loser will have to showcase the other team’s signed merchandise in their office.
“If we win, Gavin Newsroom would have to display signed merchandise from our players in his office and vice versa, which I don’t have to contemplate because that won’t happen,” Hochul told reporters as she left an event Friday.
She continued stating that she is confident that the Yankees will win but was prepared to send the California governor a package of bagels and lox if they were to lose.
“Of course, you go around the state of New York. You have chicken wings, all these different foods, but I came to the conclusion that lox, cream cheese and bagels are really, truly iconic in New York foods, right,” she said.
“So I was going to wager that, but they upped the game a little bit differently than I would have,” Hochul said.
Even though the bet was upped to the sign merchandise, Hotchul said the bagels offer is still on the table even if they win.
“If anybody in California still wants any New York lox and bagels and cream cheese once we win the World Series, which we will do, then I’m happy to have that conversation,” Hochul said with a laugh.
The Dodgers won the first game out of the best of seven games in the World Series on Friday night in walk-off fashion. The teams will face each other again on Saturday.
