Texas has deployed its National Guard to assist border patrol as cities prepare for an influx of illegal immigrants.

Lone Star State lawmakers deployed 500-guard-members to assist in patrolling the border early on Wednesday.

Troops positioned themselves on the banks of the Rio Grande. There, they erected wire-barriers and positioned their vehicles to deter migrants from crossing the river.

The Texas Military Department stated that the deployment is part of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s (R-Texas) “enhanced border security effort.”

While the Supreme Court temporarily blocked the lifting of Title 42 this week, Conservatives argued that when it is lifted, a surge in migrants will overwhelm state resources. Abbott is among those who joined the appeal to prevent Title 42 from ending.
