After a brief tenure as the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk announced that he will stand by the results of the poll he tweeted over the weekend and will step down.

Musk tweeted out a poll on December 18th asking users of the social media platform if he should step down as the head of Twitter. By the time the poll was over, over 17.5 million users had cast their vote. 57.5% voted yes.

On Tuesday evening, two days after the poll was over, he acknowledged the results, saying that he will step down when he finds someone to fill the role.

Musk has not given any indication as to who he will choose to replace him as the CEO of Twitter. Many people on the platform tweeted out their willingness to assume the role.

Although he plans on stepping down as CEO, Musk will not leave the company. The billionaire says he will run the software and servers’ teams instead. He will most likely still have a large role in how the company is managed and will remain the owner of the social media platform.
