Torrential downpours hit Denver, which resulted in major flash flooding across the eastern part of Colorado. On Sunday, over two inches of rain fell in the span of an hour causing flash floods across the area.
Flooding hit the highways hard. Interstate 70 was forced to close in both directions for part of the evening.

Fire crews were called to rescue people trapped in vehicles. One witness, Felix Espinoza, watched entire families be rescued.
In chest deep water – Denver firefighters rescued multiple children, including a baby, stuck in flood waters.

Authorities said a total of 19 people were rescued from vehicles during the floods.
