World Gin Day Is June 11

World Gin Day is coming up tomorrow, June 11. And in fitting fashion to mark the occasion, Hendrick’s Gin is sharing some of its celebrated cocktail recipes.

Hendrick’s Gin, infused with the essence of rose, cucumber and no less than 11 botanicals from the four corners of the world is wonderfully refreshing. (And would you believe that Red Rose Day on June 12 and World Cucumber Day on June 14 are all within a few days of each other!)

The spirit category is experiencing a huge boom in popularity, at a value growth rate of +22 percent compared to rum (+14 percent), vodka (+12 percent) and whiskey (+19 percent) according to Nielsen data, solidifying itself as the premium sip for this summer.

Gin is versatile, aromatic and medicinal. The juniper berries, which gin is derived from have antioxidant, anti-fungal, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is great to aid digestion and is also a diuretic although it may make your lips pucker due to its bitterness. Still, in the right cocktail, it is cool, refreshing and classic.

Hendrick’s Martini

Hendrick’s Gin original is a symphony of 11 botanicals: chamomile, elderflower, juniper, lemon peel, orange peel, caraway, coriander, cubeb berries, angelica root, yarrow root and orris root, which are then infused with rose and cucumber. This whimsical concoction produces a wonderfully refreshing gin with a delightfully floral aroma. Hendrick’s Gin is created by marrying distillates from two types of still – a traditional copper pot still and a rarer Carter-Head style still. Combining the spirits from the different stills creates a singularly smooth gin that has both intriguing depth of flavor and a delicate floral aroma. Hendrick’s Gin is bottled at 44 percent ABV (SRP $34.99).
